Revisions to Interpretive Guidance on Feeding Tubes (See attached pdf.)
Revisions have been made to Guidance to Surveyors at F tag 322 in Appendix PP of the State Operations Manual (SOM) concerning Feeding Tubes.
• Collapsed F tag 321: F tag 321 is deleted and the regulatory language and guidance moved to F tag 322.
• Training: Power Point training material with speaker notes for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Regional Offices (ROs) and State Survey Agencies (SAs) to be used to train surveyors on this revision to F tag 322 in the SOM will be issued under a separate communication.
Grandfathering for Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) Sub-specialty Ends in 2012!
The Grandfathering period refers to the time early in the development of a field when physicians may qualify to sit for the certification exam on the basis of experience, even if they have not completed a 12-month ACGME-accredited fellowship program. The ABMS grandfathering period is from 2008 through 2012. Registration for the 2012 exam will open in winter 2011/2012; see details: http://www.aahpm.org/certification/default/abms.html
